Our Mission
Codex was founded by a practising lawyer with in-house SaaS experience across the UK and US — supported by a King's Counsel Senior Advisor with 50 years at the bar. We built it because we believe the playing field between boutique firms and Big Law just flattened. Most lawyers do not know it yet. We are here to change that.
Why We Built Codex
Legal infrastructure has always existed for the people who needed it least. The firms with the most resources got the best tools. The best tools gave them more resources. And everyone else — the boutique firms, the solos, the practitioners doing brilliant work with what they had — competed against that machine with nothing but talent and heart.
That just changed. The tools that Big Law has been paying $75,000 to $100,000 a year for are now available to a boutique practice for under $250 a month — total. No single tool we recommend costs more than $600 a month. The complete stack most firms need costs less than a phone bill.
We built Codex to find the people who need this most, speak to the real challenges of legal practice, and stay — as the tools evolve, as the practice grows — so the gains compound rather than erode.

How We Work
We are a lawyer-led team. We understand the pressures, the ethics, and the culture of legal practice — because we live it. Every recommendation we make has been evaluated through a legal lens first, and tested in real practice.
We built Codex because we believe the firms with the most heart deserve the best tools. We are extraordinarily passionate about bringing this technology to the lawyers it will help the most.
No hype, no jargon, no pressure. We find specific tools that solve specific problems in your specific practice — and we stay until they are working properly. The blueprint is yours regardless.
The Team
We bring 50 years of elite advocacy and a decade of in-house SaaS technology experience to every engagement. A practising lawyer who has worked inside the technology companies whose tools we now recommend, supported by a King's Counsel whose standards ensure we never lose sight of what actually matters in legal practice.

Founder · Practising Lawyer · Tech & Commercial
Patrick is a practising Tech and Commercial Lawyer who spent years as in-house counsel for SaaS companies across the UK and US. He has negotiated software agreements from both sides of the table, advised on international expansion, and implemented legal AI tools in his own practice.
That combination — legal practice, in-house SaaS experience, and firsthand use of the tools he recommends — is what makes Codex different. When he advises your firm, he is not describing tools he has read about. He is describing tools he uses. He felt the same overwhelm, the same quiet question — does it have to be this hard? — and found the answer.
Barrister & King's Counsel · Senior Advisor
Noel brings over 50 years of elite experience as an advocate and commercial litigator across the UK, US, and Australia. A market leader in Shareholder Disputes, he has appeared in the highest courts across three jurisdictions and holds the rank of King's Counsel.
As Senior Advisor, Noel ensures that every Codex recommendation is grounded in the standards of elite legal practice. His five decades at the bar mean we never lose sight of what technology must serve — and what it must never compromise.
A Note on Our Partnerships
Codex is an official implementation partner of Ruli, an AI-native legal intelligence platform designed for in-house and boutique legal teams. Ruli combines legal research, contract intelligence, and redlining tools in a single platform grounded in your firm's own playbooks and precedents.
We want to be clear about what this means: we are formally partnered with Ruli and receive a commission if you choose to implement it. We disclose this openly because we believe you deserve to know. It does not change our approach — we will only recommend Ruli where it is genuinely the right fit for your practice. Where it is not, we will tell you that too.
Transparency is the foundation of our business model. A recommendation that is wrong for your firm is bad for your firm — and bad for ours.
The tools that change everything are available right now. Headquartered in the UK, with experience across Australia and the US, we bring internationally tested frameworks to your practice — delivered entirely remotely, on your schedule. The playing field is changing. We are here to make sure you are on the right side of it.
